Konstantin STROGANOV, the first Vice-Governor of the Sakhalin Area, held a working meeting on the problems of Fishing Port of Nevelsk, RIA PrimaMedia was informed in the Department of the Information Policy of the Sakhalin Area Administration. In the framework of the meeting the ways of port development were discussed.
Currently the Nevelsk Sea Fishing Port is going into bankruptcy. Its total debt to the Government, business partners and employees amounts to over 100 million Rubles. The committee of bankruptcy has been appointed. The Federal center and the Sakhalin Area Administration face the problem of reviving the port. In this connection one of the main tasks is to define the form of ownership of the port.
It was noted at the meeting that the future of the Nevelsk port depends on the legal decisions: either it will be a company of joint activity of private business and the Government in the form of state-owned corporation or, probably, it will be completely in public ownership.
If the Government pays the port's debts in whole or in part, the procedure of bankruptcy will be stopped and the Nevelsk Sea Fishing Port's form of ownership will remain the same as it used to be - the Federal State Unitary Company. This way the procedure of bankruptcy of "Mendeleevo" Airport on the Kuril Islands was stopped.
When the form of ownership is defined, modern hydro engineering structures, loading and unloading terminal, and other objects of infrastructure are planned to be built in the port.
