A Russian representative to the UN calls upon to develop overland routes that could compete with sea lanes
Speaking at the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (Vienna, Austria), Vladimir Voronkov, a Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna has called upon to promote regional economic integration and develop overland routes of transport corridors, the UN News Centre said.
Noting that LLDCs are facing particular challenges in access to major markets, Russia's representative called for the development of overland routes throughout the continents that could compete on cost and time with shipping lanes.
The United Nations conference concluded yesterday with the adoption of a 10-year action plan aimed at accelerating sustainable development in the world’s 32 landlocked developing countries.
