RF President requests proposals on shifting cargoes from highways to inland water ways

RF President Vladimir Putin has instructed the Government to prepare proposals on shifting heavy and bulky cargoes transported by road transport to railways and inland water ways. The instructions were given following the meeting of the State Council on Improvement of Highway Network held on October 8, 2014. The deadline for execution of the instructions – quarter I’2015.

Besides, it was ordered to consider reasonability of licensing the activities related to cargo transportation by public highways in large and heavy vehicles; to prepare and submit proposals on amendments into RF legislation providing for introduction of highway toll to compensate for the harm done by vehicles with gross laden weight exceeding 12 t etc.
