Gates on the Upper Volga can be opened ahead of schedule as requested by ship owners – Rosmorrechflot

Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency) says the gates on the Upper Volga can be opened ahead of schedule as requested by ship owners. This was announced at the meeting of Volga Basin Administration with ship owners. Yury Kostin, deputy head of Rosmorrechflot, was among the participants.

The agenda of the meeting was focused on development of proposals for improvement of navigation in the Volga Basin.
 
Representatives of Volga Basin Administration emphasized the readiness of its technical fleet and hydraulic engineering structures. Navigation season of 2017 has already started at the Lower and Middle Volga rivers. Cheboksary and Gorodets hydraulic systems will be put into operation in the late decade of April.
